![]() ![]() ChatGPT certainly gives us credit for one part of our business – our ‘highly advanced and sophisticated’ exchange – but falls short in providing details of our broader business which includes solutions for modernizing markets, providing seamless routes to capital, and fighting financial crime – just to name a few. It redeemed itself, however, by remarking on our adaptability, which has been a cornerstone of our culture over my tenure. In fact, we have adapted so much that ChatGPT’s description does not encapsulate the full extent of Nasdaq’s business and impact on the financial industry today. Nasdaq, on the other hand, has been quite adaptable over our 50 years, and it is quite reaffirming to see ChatGPT give us credit in that area. Personally, I wouldn’t characterize C-3PO as adaptable, given that they fret over every new adventure, but then again, they do speak every language in the universe. We asked the app: “If Nasdaq was a Star Wars character, who would it be?” Here’s the answer: Their answer was both pretty funny and pretty good. Any engagement I participate in, I am asked to introduce myself and the company. This time, when I sat down with CTA CEO Gary Shapiro at CES for CTA’s Great Minds series, I asked ChatGPT to do it for me. Part of my job as CEO is to be the chief evangelist of Nasdaq. ![]()

We are in a small village in Quebec on the verge of an arts festival when Jane, a retired school teacher surrounded by her longtime (non-family) friends submits a work to the festival that captures both a horrifically worrisome amateurish, but masking a professional and serious talent around the periphery. For the most part, I think this book is close, but I am hoping that some of the later books in the series took a little longer to develop the world around the plot/mystery. ![]() This is the first novel by Louise Penny, a Canadian mystery writer, and this series was recommended to me by my school librarian by way of a conversation looking for books to supplement my craving for more writers like Tana French and Robert Galbraith. ![]() ![]() ![]() The book was made into the 1969 film, The Illustrated Man, starring Rod Steiger and Claire Bloom. The unrelated stories are tied together by the frame story of "The Illustrated Man", a vagrant former member of a carnival freak show with an extensively tattooed body whom the unnamed narrator meets. It was nominated for the International Fantasy Award in 1952. A recurring theme throughout the stories is the conflict of the cold mechanics of technology and the psychology of people. The Illustrated Man is a 1951 collection of 18 science fiction short stories by American writer Ray Bradbury. ![]() ![]() One reason I loved The Hiketeia is because it showcases my favorite version of the Amazon Princess: the mature Diana who is warrior and diplomat, strong yet kind, thoughtful but fierce. Emotionally gripping, thought-provoking, a real page turner, all those description fit this one - even though you sort of guess how the the narrative will end. I can’t stress enough how good this story was. All of the chaos and conflict thereafter ensuing to protect a woman who fully admits killing people in cold blood. ![]() She binds Diana through an ancient ritual called the “Hiketeia.” This custom one Wonder Woman cannot refuse without horrible consequences, and so she finds herself clearly at odds with Batman. How she does it is amazingly simple and damn effective. Realizing that her luck is about to run out, our clever, young lady hatches a plan to acquire a bodyguard who even Batman can’t match up against: Princess Diana a.k.a. Only one problem: all this happens in Gotham, which means Batman begins hunting down the killer. Their brutal punishment rightly deserved for their roles in her sister’s death.
